My Twin Sister Died in a Fiery Car Accident Ten Years Ago—Then a Dental Office Called and Asked Me to Pick Her Up, but What I Saw in That Waiting Room Was Even More Terrifying – PART 2

“What?”

“Money.”

“How much?”

Astrid swallowed.

“Thomas estimated the trust is worth more than thirty million dollars today.”

The car suddenly felt very quiet.

“That’s impossible.”

“I thought so too.”

“Then why kill me?”

“Because according to the trust, control transfers to the surviving beneficiary under certain conditions.”

“Surviving?”

The word barely escaped me.

Astrid nodded.

“If one twin dies, the other inherits everything.”

I looked at her.

“But they tried to kill me.”

“Yes.”

“Which would leave you.”

“Yes.”

“Then why did someone spend ten years pretending you were dead?”

Astrid didn’t answer.

I understood before she spoke.

“They needed both of us legally separated from that money.”

She nodded.

Then her phone rang.

Unknown number.

Astrid stared at it.

“Don’t answer.”

It rang again.

Then mine started ringing.

Same unknown number.

I answered.

Neither of us spoke.

Then the gray-haired man’s voice came through.
