Every Night, When I Went to Work, I Left My 5-Year-Old Son With My 73-Year-Old Father. A Few Weeks Later, My Boy Started Complaining of Severe Lower Back Pain. When I Asked What Had Happened, He Answered Fearfully, “Mommy, Grandpa Told Me Not to Tell You What We Do at Night.”

At 12:30 a.m., I parked my car outside his house.

A light was shining through his bedroom window.

I approached the door and heard my son’s voice.

“Grandpa, it hurts… I can’t do this anymore.”

Then I heard my father’s stern voice.

“I know, Ben. Just hold on a little longer. We have to finish tonight before your mother gets here.”

THE CONTINUATION

With a trembling hand, I pushed the door open.

And what I saw changed the way I looked at my own father forever…

The first thing I saw when I opened the door was

my son.

Ben was sitting on the edge of my father’s large bed. His face was red, and his eyes were filled with tears.

My father was kneeling in front of him, holding both of my little boy’s feet in his hands.

White towels were spread across the floor. Beside them sat a small wooden box containing what looked like metal tools.
