Then nothing.
For almost forty minutes.
At 9:31, Marcy emerged.
She was walking quickly.
Dustin came behind her.
The camera had no audio.
That somehow made the footage worse.
You could see the argument without hearing it.
Marcy turned.
Dustin said something.
She answered.
He stepped closer.
Marcy stepped back.
Then Ray froze the video.
“There.”
At first I did not understand.
Then I saw it.
Marcy was holding something.
A folder.
Thin.
Dark blue.
She clutched it against her chest.
Dustin reached for it.
Marcy pulled it away.
The footage skipped.
Ray frowned.
“What happened?”
He rewound.
Same thing.
Marcy stepped back.
The image froze for two seconds.
Then resumed.
Now the folder was gone.
Marcy was leaving.
Dustin stood watching her.
I leaned closer.
“Why did it skip?”
Ray stared at the screen.
“It shouldn’t.”
“Can recordings be edited?”
“Not from this computer.”
Dustin laughed too loudly.
“There. Nothing happened.”
