Today Is My Surgery Day
Today is not just another day.
It is the day I have been waiting for… and also the day I have been afraid of.
My name is Beatriz.
If you look at my face now, you may feel shocked.
The bruises, the swelling, the marks… they tell a story that words cannot fully explain.
But I promise you—this is not where my story ends.
A few months ago, my life was normal.
I woke up every morning, made coffee, laughed with my family, and planned simple things like weekend dinners or watching movies.
I never thought that one moment could change everything.
The accident happened so fast.
One second, everything was calm.
The next second, my world turned into pain, noise, and darkness.
When I woke up in the hospital, I didn’t understand what had happened.
My body felt heavy. My face hurt.
And when I finally saw myself in the mirror… I didn’t recognize the person looking back.
That moment broke something inside me.
I cried.
Not just because of the pain, but because I was scared.
Scared that I would never look the same again.
Scared that I would never feel like myself again.
The days after that were long.
Each day felt like a battle.
There were doctor visits, tests, silence, and waiting.
So much waiting.
Sometimes, I wanted to give up.
Sometimes, I didn’t have the strength to smile.
But something inside me refused to disappear.
Maybe it was hope.
Maybe it was love.
Or maybe it was the small voice inside me saying,
“You are still here. Keep going.”
My family stood beside me every day.
They held my hands when I felt weak.
They reminded me that I was more than my reflection.
They reminded me that I was still me.
Slowly, I began to accept what happened.
Not because it was easy… but because I had no other choice.
And then came the hardest decision:
Surgery.
The doctors told me it would be difficult.
They said it would take time.
They said there were risks.
I was afraid.
Of course I was afraid.
But I realized something important.
The real danger was not the surgery.
The real danger was staying like this… without trying to heal.
So today, I chose courage.
I woke up early this morning with a heavy heart.
I sat quietly, thinking about everything I have been through.
All the pain, all the tears, all the long nights.
But I also thought about something else.
I thought about the future.
About the day I will smile again without fear.
About the day I will look in the mirror and feel peace.
About the day I will tell this story… not with sadness, but with pride.
That is why I wrote this message:
“Today is my surgery day. Wish me good luck?”
Not because I only need luck…
but because I want to feel that I am not alone.
Right now, I am sitting here, holding this paper,
feeling scared… but also calm.
Because deep inside, I know this is a new beginning.
I don’t know what will happen next.
I don’t know how long the journey will be.
But I know one thing:
I am stronger than I was yesterday.
If you are reading this,
please send a small wish, a prayer, or even just a kind thought.
I will carry it with me into that room.
And when I wake up…
I hope it will be the first day of healing.
Not just for my face…
but for my heart.
See you soon.
