I was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison for my billionaire adoptive father’s death. As the guards prepared to take me away, my mother-in-law pretended to cry while my husband gently rested his hand on his pregnant mistress’s belly. They believed they’d stolen my freedom and gained control of a nearly $5 billion empire. I simply smiled and revealed one name: “Clara Thorne.” My husband’s expression changed instantly. Seconds later, the prosecutor shouted, “Stop the transfer!” But the secret surrounding his first wife’s disappearance five years earlier was only the beginning…

“Every executive who signed an authorization rider for Project Bourbon is terminated immediately for cause,” I stated, my eyes sweeping across the frozen room. “Your corporate access cards have been deactivated. Your stock options are forfeited under Section 12 of the corporate ethics charter. And there are eight federal marshals waiting in the lobby to take your passports.”

I turned my head and looked directly at Khloe.

“And you, Khloe,” I said, pointing a finger at the Chanel jacket she was wearing. “Take off my mother’s clothes. Take off the jewelry. You have ten minutes to clear your makeup out of my guest cottage before the sheriff impounds the vehicle Silas bought you with my father’s money.”

Khloe burst into hysterical, ragged sobs, unbuttoning the designer jacket with trembling fingers, throwing it onto the table before fleeing through the side fire exit in tears.

The boardroom cleared in eight minutes.
