“Say that again.”
“Orison Aeronautics.”
Eight years ago, Orison Aeronautics had manufactured the experimental guidance module installed in Ethan’s F-16.
The same module the investigation had blamed for his supposed @ccident.
Maya took the tablet.
The booking showed almost nothing.
No frequent flyer number.
No checked baggage.
No meal preference.
No emergency contact.
One-way ticket.
Purchased fourteen hours earlier.
She handed the tablet back.
“Claire, I need you to move Lucas.”
“Why?”
“Without making it obvious.”
Claire glanced toward the cabin.
“How?”
Maya thought.
Then smiled.
“Tell him his mother is airsick.”
Claire stared at her.
“You?”
“I spent twelve years flying fighters.”
“Exactly.”
“Lucas will find that hilarious enough to believe it.”
Five minutes later, Claire approached row eighteen.
Maya watched through the narrow gap between galley curtains.
“Lucas?”
He removed one headphone.
“Yeah?”
“Your mother isn’t feeling well. Could you come with me?”
Lucas’s expression brightened instantly.
