“You say that like you’ve done this before.”
“I’ve done worse things with less information.”
Maya lowered herself into the compartment.
The world became metal, cables and vibration.
Above her were hundreds of passengers.
Below her was black ocean.
The aircraft shook continuously.
Maya crawled forward.
Her flashlight crossed bundles of wiring.
Green.
White.
Blue.
Then red.
“There.”
Aaron’s voice came through the opening.
“You see it?”
“I see something.”
Maya reached toward the relay.
Then stopped.
A thin wire ran from the housing toward a small pressure sensor.
Reeves had been telling the truth.
The failsafe.
Maya withdrew her hand.
“Ethan.”
His voice came through her headset.
“I’m here.”
“The relay is connected to the device.”
“Can you identify the trigger?”
“Pressure differential.”
“Don’t cut it.”
“I wasn’t planning to.”
“What do you see?”
Maya described the wiring.
Ethan responded instantly.
“Blue connector on the left.”
