Adrian looked toward the navigation display.
“You can’t.”
Reeves stared.
“Excuse me?”
“Not yet.”
“Why?”
Adrian pointed.
The programmed destination had changed.
Flight 417 was no longer heading toward Denver.
Nor toward any civilian airport.
A new course had appeared.
Northwest.
Maya recognized the coordinates.
A restricted region in Alaska.
Hundreds of miles from the nearest major city.
Reeves tried entering a new heading.
The system rejected it.
Pierce attempted manual override.
For three seconds the aircraft responded.
Then the controls stiffened.
“External control,” Pierce said.
Adrian shook his head.
“Not external.”
“Then what?”
Adrian slowly looked at Lucas.
“Internal.”
Maya understood before anyone explained.
“No.”
Adrian lifted the wrist device.
“The aircraft systems aren’t receiving commands from Ethan’s fighter.”
His screen displayed a signal strength reading.
The strongest source was inside Flight 417.
“It’s coming from the cabin.”
Maya looked around.
“From where?”
Adrian moved the device.
