A Security Guard Accused an 85-Year-Old Woman of Shoplifting at a Supermarket – But When She Pulled Something Out of Her Pocket, He Turned Pale and Burst Into Tears

I just wish I'd found you sooner.

Michael stared at her. “Then why didn't you answer?”

Mom said nothing.

And suddenly, finding my brother wasn't the most shocking thing that had happened that evening.

But I did know something.

Because I had a twenty-year-old letter proving this reunion could have happened much sooner.

Why didn't you answer?

Her face went pale. “Where did you find that?”

“In Dad's things. Did you read it?”

“George handled those matters.”

“That wasn't my question.”

She twisted her hands. “We talked about answering. More than once.”

Dad's things.

Michael stared at her. “So you knew I'd found you?”

Mom couldn't look at him. “Yes. We recognized the details. George remembered your name from the adoption information.”

“And you never answered?”

“I wanted to,” Mom whispered. “But George was afraid you'd find your birth family and leave us.”

We talked about answering.

“And you agreed with him?”
