At the top was a date.
Thirteen years earlier.
Nearly nine years before Daniel Keane died.
Adrian began reading.
The letter was short.
Only half a page.
But by the third sentence, he had to sit down.
His grandfather had written:
*Adrian, if Arthur has finally given you this letter, then someone named Keane has found what I failed to prove.*
Adrian read the sentence again.
Someone named Keane.
Not Daniel specifically.
The letter had been written years before Daniel joined the Rivergate project.
His grandfather had known the name Keane already.
Adrian continued.
*You will be tempted to believe this concerns the company. It does not. The company is only where the evidence eventually surfaced.*
Below that:
*Do not blame your father before you know what he was trying to protect.*
Adrian’s eyes stopped.
He looked up at Marissa.
“What was he protecting?”
“I don’t know.”
Adrian returned to
