She takes in a stranger at the request of her dying husband: the truth upsets her after his death

Three days later, David went to the hospital. He never came back.

The wooden box and the revelation that changes everything

The day after the funeral, Grace knocked on his door, holding a small wooden box in her hands. Inside: yellowed letters, old photographs. And a truth that no one could have anticipated. David was not Grace's father. He was her half-brother. David's own father had had a secret affair, from which Grace was born. The latter's mother, who died two years before the diagnosis, had left a letter that led David to her.

The betrayal was therefore not what was feared. But David had still hidden this secret for fifteen years. He had discreetly supported Grace, financed her studies, opened a bank account in her name — without ever revealing anything. When he learned of her illness, he panicked at the idea of leaving this young woman alone.

Anger has arrived. Lively, legitimate, real. She put Grace's bag near the entrance. But when the young woman collapsed down the stairs whispering "Forgive me for ruining everything", something fractured in a different way.
