Every Living President Is Expected at the NYC 9/11 Memorial for Its 25th Anniversary — One Is Not

Two Beams Will Rise Above the City Once More

At 8 p.m. ET, Disney and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum will present "9/11 Tribute in Light: Live from Lower Manhattan."

David Muir, Robin Roberts, and Diane Sawyer will host the one-hour broadcast, which will air across ABC, Disney+, Hulu, National Geographic, ABC News Live, and participating station livestreams.

The special will coincide with the illumination of Tribute in Light, the two towering blue beams created to evoke the lost Twin Towers. First displayed six months after the attacks, the installation has become one of New York's most recognizable expressions of grief and endurance.

Buildings elsewhere in the city and around the country have also been invited to shine blue from dusk until dawn. Long after the family ceremony ends and its presidential guests depart, those beams will reach upward over Manhattan.

That evening image may offer the clearest reminder of why Ground Zero's strict tradition has endured. On a day devoted to thousands of lives, even the nation's most powerful figures are asked simply to stand beside the families, listen, and remember.
